About Liz Queeny

Vibrant colors and sun-splashed settings are mainstays of the marine-themed pencil drawings of Liz Queeny. But it is the intricate mosaic patterns that give her work a look all its own.

A native of Duxbury, MA, Queeny, 51 lived for many years in Charleston, SC. While there, she became enamored of Charleston’s many stained glass windows. Those windows continue to influence the myriad of patterns and shapes that make up Queeny’s towering suns, starry skies and confetti-colored fish.

These days Liz spends her summers living on a lobster boat off Cape Ann on the North Shore of Boston, where she wakes up to the deep blue of the Atlantic. In the winter, she’s off to Islamorada in the Florida Keys where bright sun and turquoise waters lend themselves perfectly to the creation of tropical motifs.

Queeny says that she hopes the sense of movement and fun that she instills in all of her drawings will make her audience stop and smile. An amateur artist all her life, Liz began channeling her creativity into a profession in l998 while she was still working as the personal assistant to syndicated columnist, James J. Kilpatrick. In addition to her whimsical drawings, Liz makes one-of-a-kind handbags and hand-painted rugs.
